Introduction

High density suburbs in Zimbabwe have been characterised by poor living conditions and they continue to deteriorate each year. Mabvuku Suburb is one of the communities affected and residents have adapted to poor living conditions because most of them have become hopeless that their lives will change for the better. The Scott Foundation was established to restore hope to the Mabvuku residents and the country at large. The foundation strongly believes that the youth have potential for growth through empowerment which in turn will improve the livelihoods of these vulnerable communities. Mr Sakupwanya grew up in Mabvuku and decided to start these humanitarian efforts on his home ground as a way of appreciating his roots. The foundation initiated projects in Mabvuku with the mission to develop and upgrade the suburb in a bid to eradicate poverty, crime, drug and alcohol abuse. These projects are being scaled up to benefit similar communities across the country.
